Thank you to all
Bollywood came to Kingsfield today! Several classes had a great time learning about an Indian dance which might be used to celebrate Diwali. Year 1 listened very carefully and were able to learn lots of small dance movements and hand gestures which they then put into a short dance sequence.
Yesterday some classes got to try their hand at African drumming, everyone – including the staff – were very enthused by what they had done. Some of the Year 4 children said that they had learnt about how to change the tone on the drum by using different areas on the skin. They were able to learn some drumming sequences and then put them together to make a short performance. The children are already hoping that there will be a return visit! ‘We loved it!’ was a popular report on how they thought the session had gone.
Year Six have had a fantastic sculpture day with the metal work sculpture Darcy Turner. We made a woolly mammoth, a megalodon Sabre toothed tiger and a dodo! They will be displayed outside the classroom tomorrow morning.
